Education and Language Proficiency
Md Abdullah Yousuf earned his Bachelor's degree from Dhaka in 1988 and completed a diploma in Tokyo, Japan, in 1990. He is multilingual, fluent in five languages: Bengali, English, Japanese, Urdu, and Hindi. After studying in Japan for approximately five years, he relocated to Australia in 1991.
Professional Experience
In Japan, Abdullah was a councillor for the Asian Peoples Friendship Society, the country's largest human rights organization (http://apfs.jp/eng/outline), and was a founding member of Zia Parishad Japan. Upon arriving in Australia, he engaged with various community groups, assuming leadership roles that have significantly impacted the Bangladeshi diaspora.
In 1995, Abdullah founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of Australia Inc (BNP) and has since been a driving force within the community. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the only Bangladeshi community newspaper in Australia, Suprovat Sydney (www.suprovatsydney.com.au). His media group encompasses a range of platforms, including a small online TV channel, a website, a YouTube channel, and a print newspaper, all actively maintained, even during the challenging times of the pandemic.
Community Leadership and Advocacy
Abdullah is the President of the Community Youth & Development Organisation Inc. (https://www.cycdo.com.au/), and serves as a Director of SStv Australia (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLNPL1piHFwan7G7mRl2jdg). He has held the position of Senior Vice President and acting President of the Sydney Press & Media Council Incorporated. Currently, he is founder executive member of Sydney Press & Media Coalition.
As a founding executive member of the Bangladeshi Senior Citizens of Australia Inc, he is deeply committed to the welfare of senior citizens. He also serves as the Chief Advisor for the Bangladeshi Refugees of Australia Inc, focusing on the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

Abdullah was a Justice of the Peace in New South Wales from June 7, 2006, until June 2021, and previously served as a director for Sydney 2 FM Community Radio, where he produced Bengali programming from May 2007.

on September 15, 2024, Abdullah received a Special Award from AMUST, Australia's largest Muslim Newspaper, during their 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner, acknowledging his contributions to the community and media landscape.
